Atlanta Family Photographer
This post is quite a bit different that my typical Atlanta family photographer posts. Wanna know why? Because my oldest son, my first baby, is 10 years old TODAY! Double digits! I have now been a mom for 1/4 of my life! For an entire decade! This, is a big day!
Now clearly, not ALL of these photos are “professional” photos, and I’m ok with that. Some of them are pictures I took with my good camera, some of them are cell phone snaps, or, when he was born, I think we may have even had a point and shoot camera and phones with no cameras! The point is, that Zaden is 10, and we are so proud of the young man he is becoming.
It all started HERE…
All of it…really! My adult life, my journey as a mom, and my love for photography…all here, with this kid. When Zaden was about 8 months old I felt like I was missing out on his cute expressions because it took my little point and shoot too long to respond. I asked my husband for a DSLR for my birthday, and got a canon digital rebel. Obviously, I didn’t just grab it and do great things, even though I may have thought I was:) But realizing the importance of capturing my own child’s pictures, encouraged me to learn as much about photography as I could. Soon enough, it ended up being more than just me capturing my own children. A few years later, I decided to name my business Appleseed Photography, and the rest, as they say, is history! But, back to Zaden, because THIS post really is all about him!
Zaden Levi Rogers
Zaden was born on January 25 2008. My husband and I had been married for 13 months and 1 week when Zaden arrived! We were over the moon immediately. He was always a more serious little guy. Smiley some, but we noticed that we really had to work for his smiles, as he preferred to just study the room and take it all in. He is still so much like that even now. Zaden is so curious, and loves to learn. He has the best memory of anyone I have ever met, and loves to read fact books. Zaden also loves to share his facts and information with anyone who will hear them. He loves math and science just about as much as he loves hiking and fishing. I really can’t imagine a more well rounded child academically, and physically.
Not many 10 year olds just don’t care what their peers think of them, but Zaden doesn’t. His hair is crazy, he hates dry fit shirts, and doesn’t feel the need to “fit in”. I love this about him. As a kid, I always enjoyed having friends, but only wanted to be friends with who I wanted to be friends with. Popularity wasn’t my thing, and it doesn’t seem to be his either, and I adore this about him. He’s athletic, smart, and silly. Still immature, sometimes lazy, and super argumentative, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. He challenges us daily, and just when we think he’s not paying attention, he’ll be the sweet, kind, caring big brother that we know he can be. Growing up, I only ever had one sibling, and I thought I had it rough. I truly can’t imagine how hard it is, at times, to be the oldest of 4 kids. He’s judged the hardest, we expect the most out of him, but yet he’s only 16 months older than his younger brother.

Zaden, I hope you are always curious, and always seek the answers. I hope you never start caring what people think of you, but always stay kind and true to your friends. Hold your family close to your heart, your brothers and sister will ALWAYS have your back. We love you more than words can say, and are so very proud of you. We love you buddy. Happy 10th Birthday!!

What a handsome boy! He was born on the day Brett and I got married! Happy 10th to Zaden! And I know exactly how you feel about him making all your dreams come true. That is how I feel about Jack. BTW – I love his long hair in the last pic. He is a handsome dude for sure!
