Atlanta Maternity Photographer

Sometimes, as an Atlanta Maternity Photographer, the story of how I know someone, or how I came to meet them, can be kind of fun.  Before I lived in Atlanta, and even before Virginia, I lived in TN.  While I was there, I worked at for a rental car company.  This beautiful mama and I worked together way back then…about 15 years ago.  Fast forward to marriage and kids, and we both find ourselves in Atlanta! It truly is a small world.

Anyways…obviously they are expecting baby number 2 and I am so excited to be photographing him when he arrives!   Expecting a baby can be such an exciting time for a family.  I love being able to capture those last moments before baby comes.  These will most likely be the last family photos of this family while they are a family of 3!  There’s something so special about that to me!  I love getting to capture expecting mamas with their children.  It’s truly just such a sweet time.

When to schedule your Maternity Session

I often get asked when the best time to schedule a maternity session is.  I usually encourage expecting mamas to do their maternity session between 32-36 weeks.  In my personal opinion, any later than 35 weeks is kind of pushing it, since babies have a tendency to come on their own schedule and not ours! At 32-34 weeks, mama is definitely looking quite pregnant, but isn’t usually miserable just yet.  In my personal experience, after 35-36 weeks, I was getting pretty close to miserable!

Which session to book?

Most of my  maternity clients opt for my maternity + newborn package.  All of my packages and pricing can be seen here.  Once you decide you’d like to book a maternity session, and we have it scheduled, we will pick the perfect location for your session.  My favorite time of day to do outdoor sessions is at the end of the day..usually the last 60-90 minutes of sunlight are the most beautiful light of the day.  After your maternity session, contact me after baby has arrived and we will schedule your session for sometime within the first 7-21 days of life.  I personally, prefer to be closer to 7-14 days of life, but I also understand that often delivery doesn’t go as expected and some moms might need a little extra time.  I try to be very flexible and I have photographed many 3 week old babies and haven’t had any issues getting them to sleep.
