Newborn Photography Atlanta
I love my job as newborn photography Atlanta. When I first started my photography journey 9 years ago, I had no idea that it would lead me where it has today. Nine years ago, I became interested in photography so that I could take better pictures of my oldest, and then only, son. It started out as just a mom trying to get better pictures of her baby. Then a few friends here and there, would ask me to take pictures of their kids. Before I knew it, people were offering to pay me for photography. At that point, I still wasn’t what I’d call technically skilled. However, that didn’t matter to me or my clients because I was passionate, and truly enjoyed being with them and their children.
When I first started out, I loved babies, but was pretty intimidated by them as far as photographing them was concerned. About 18 months ago, I took a leap, and went to a workshop about posing and photographing newborns safely. For me, that workshop was a game changer. I had just invested in studio lighting, but wasn’t sure how to use it yet. Being in a hands on situation, and seeing for myself where the light was placed was huge. I also really benefited from seeing first hand how some of my industries leading newborn photographers pose and work with babies.
Scheduling Your Newborn Session
Scheduling a newborn session, to some, may sound daunting, since you never truly know when a newborn will decide to arrive. I am a part time photographer, so I generally tend to book up more quickly. I take 1-2 newborns a week, and try to space them out based on estimated due dates. Once you decide you’d like to book me for your newborn photography Atlanta session, simply contact me and I will pencil you onto my schedule. After your baby has arrived, or you have an induction or c-section date, get in touch with me. I will schedule your session for about 7-14 days after you have delivered your baby.
What to Expect at Your Newborn Photography Atlanta Session
Many of my clients are curious about what they can expect for their sessions. A typical newborn session lasts about 3 hours. I always send out a parent prep letter. This is to give new parents tips and tricks to getting babies ready for their session. I have everything you need, as far as props at my studio. My prop inventory is extensive. It includes items like blankets, backdrops, swaddle wraps, rompers for boys and girls, headbands, and sleeper hats. I even keep diapers and wipes on hand just in case. All I need you to show up with is your baby, and food for your baby. A pacifier is great, but I usually have those on hand as well just in case!
Being a newborn photographer is such an amazing job. I realize and appreciate that you are entrusting me with your brand new baby.
