How should I prepare for a newborn photography session?
Preparing for your Kennesaw newborn photography session is really pretty simple. You don’t need to bring anything other than yourself, the baby, some diapers and any bottles or other baby necessities. I provide all the outfits, backdrops, and other props needed. Of course, if you have something special you’d like to include, you’re welcome to bring that.
Newborns are typically pretty sleepy. But if you really want to make sure your little one sleeps through their session, try keeping them awake for an hour or two before the session. This will wear them out to ensure they’re ready to sleep.
I also recommend feeding your newborn just before the session. Babies with a full tummy tend to do better in their session. Of course, if baby decides they want a snack during the session, we’ll take a break.
How to pick your Kennesaw newborn photographer
There are many photographers to choose from, so how do you know which one to pick?
Start by looking for a Kennesaw newborn photographer who is trained to work with newborns. I have taken training workshops where I’ve learned safe baby handling and posing. Your baby will always be safe during our time together.
You should also ask about props. The best newborn photos come from the use of different kinds of props. I have tons of props. Baskets, bowls, beds, hats, headbands, blankets, backdrops, and adorable outfits are just a few of the things I can offer. And of course, if there’s a meaningful outfit or other prop you’d like to include, you’re welcome to bring it with you.
Look at the photographer’s style, too. Mine is “baby led.” This means that I have a flow, or setup of poses, that I do. But if your baby is fussy or seems to dislike what we’re doing, I’ll stop and move on. I will never force your baby to be in a pose or with a prop they don’t like for the sake of a photo.
